This Beloved Chicken Wing Chain Is Changing Its Menu

Buffalo Wild Wings just announced an exciting new development—the beloved chicken wing chain is adding four new sauces to its menu. We know what you’re thinking…big mood, right? But wait, there’s more good news to go around. (For more fun, check out the 15 Classic American Desserts That Deserve a Comeback!)

Not only will there be four new sauces—Orange Chicken, Lemon Pepper, Carolina Reaper, and Pizza—but the chain is also introducing an entirely new, vegetarian-friendly menu item: Crispy Cauliflower Wings. Plus, the salad menu is getting a bit of a makeover as well. This is because, as Jamie Carawan, VP of brand menu and culinary for BWW told Restaurant Business, the five salads currently listed on the menu looked “old-fashioned; circa-1995 casual-dining.” Now, the salad menu will only include three, revamped options including the Buffalo Wedge Salad, Chopped Cobb Salad, and a Chicken Caesar Salad.

However, the newest menu additions that steal the spotlight are the four new sauces that—insider alert—are among 50 new sauce ideas Carawan and his team have conceptualized over the past eight months.

“We should own the conversation when it comes to wing sauce flavors and we intend to do that,” Carawan told Restaurant Business.

Currently, there are 26 different side sauces (including the new ones) you can get with BWW’s signature wings. The Carolina Reaper replaces the Blazin’ sauce and amplifies the intensity of the heat, as it’s combined with hot red pepper sauce, guajillo pepper puree, and roasted garlic. In other words, if you can’t usually handle the heat, this is not the sauce for you. Instead, the orange chicken sauce may be a better fit, as it marries sweet citrus and tangy orange zest with soy sauce and mild chili peppers.

The Lemon Pepper sauce is another solid choice, featuring a buttery lemon flavor dusted with black pepper. Last but not least, the new Pizza sauce flavor is essentially BWW’s Parmesan Garlic sauce plus tomato and basil powder.

And how about those new veggie-based wings? The cauliflower is breaded and then tossed in BWW’s very own Asian Zing sauce, Fresno chilies, sesame seeds, and green onions. Time to eat up!
